Communication

It is really important that we stay in regular contact with each other! This is why we communicate with our families regularly and in a variety of different ways.

Communication from School

We use parent mail to communicate with families regularly, where we share our weekly newsletter, make announcements, share trip letters and advertise events. Parent mail requires an up-to-date email address to forward information electronically. On enrollment, parent contact information is collected, but please ensure any change of email or phone number is shared with the school office. Parent mail information is provided on the next page

In emergencies, such as a school trip returning late, text messages may be used to communicate quickly with parents.
For conversations of a more personalised nature, the school office or class teachers may phone to discuss school matters. Please ensure we have an up-to-date contact number to stay in touch.

Communicating with School
We are keen to build positive relationships with parents and welcome regular communication with our families. Teachers are available each morning and afterschool on the door to discuss education, playground or classroom matters. Speaking with teachers directly at drop off or pick up is the quickest and easiest way to communicate with school, however, should this be difficult, teachers are available until 4:00pm via phone each evening.
Our office is open to discuss logistical and medical information each morning from 8:15am until 4:00pm each evening- please feel free to drop into reception via the main entrance. Alternatively, our office staff can be contacted via phone on 0114 248 2629, or via email at enquiries@halfway-jun.sheffield.sch.uk, where we will aim to respond promptly.

Should you wish to speak directly with school leaders, such as Mr Walker or Mrs Shepherd, please contact the office to arrange an appointment; we are more than happy to meet with families.

For more specialist meetings, such as SEND or Family Support, please call our office who will direct you to the right person to speak with

Weekly Newsletters

This are sent out each Monday afternoon and contain up-to-date information about the school, including upcoming events, diary dates and reminders.

We also have a section in our newsletter for news from Halfway Nursery and Infant School.

Text messages

At times we may communicate with you via text message. We use this communication channel to share with you urgent information.

Curriculum Newsletters

Our curriculum newsletters are sent out in the last week of each half-term, sharing with you what your child will be learning in each subject the following half term. We send these out before the term begins so should you want to look at anything with your child over the holiday you can do.

Knowledge Organisers

Our knowledge organisers are sent out in the last week of each half-term, sharing with you key facts and information that your child needs to know and will learn in their topic the following half term. We send these out before the term begins so should you want to look at anything with your child over the holiday you can do.

Parent Consultation Meetings

These are held twice a year and are a great chance for you to spend some time with your child's class teacher to discuss their progress and how they are getting on at school.

Our first meeting is held early in the Autumn term in order to discuss how your child has settled in, with the second meeting being held in the Spring term.

End of year reports

We send out annual end of term reports in July that share with you your child's achievements over the year across the curriculum.
